Red currants galore

Another year with lots of currants! Look at all these clusters of red currants waiting to be picked!
Picking them is fun but the hard part is cleaning them like here ....
Luscious looking currants waiting to be turned into something more special... red currants have a tart, sour taste.. so it would be good to make something out of them instead of just eating them..

Like these lovely jams which is a perfect gift to friends.. everyone loves it because you normally get only jams with mixed berries and not pure red currants..
And here's another treat - red currant meringue cakes :) yummy.

i'm embarassed to say that this is the first time i've seen currants (or even heard of it). but i'm so willing to try that delicious-looking cake! :)

kg - red currants are sour and very juicy..
