Blogging and Facebook

Yup, one of the things I neglect these past few days is this blog. I do still go online but more often than not just to check facebook and not blog :( Well facebook it seems is also time consuming -almost like blog hopping. You see what's happening with other peoples lives-- so and so is having a good day, bought a new car, went to have dinner with friends, is running a marathon, is bored and so on- you find people you haven't seen for ages (literally - some people met friends they haven't been in touch with for the last 30 years!). Aside from that, you get to see pictures of friends on their holidays, walks, dinners and also beautiful pictures from their friends. Aahhh - before you know it that 5 minute check of messages turned to an hour or more. If you're lucky you might even see friends online living in some part of the globe and have an online chat with them - that's really one of the perks of facebook.

But still I miss blogging - I miss my blogger friends who I got to know online through blog hopping and spontanous click in the blogosphere. You might find old friends in facebook, but you sure meet a lot of new friends in the blogging world. Now what happens if you don't update your blog too often? I don't know maybe they start to forget you? I hope not.. but maybe they lose interest in your life or also become a bit disappointed if they click at your page and there is no entry out there. I always get excited if I see a blogger friend has a new post. I wonder why they are not posting anymore and I hope they are all doing well but just busy. I am one of those who also gets a bit disappointed if I click on a friend's blog and there is no new post for the lastfew days, weeks, months (yup just like this blog).

I hope that soon I will blog more again - have more interesting posts than blahblahblah..

Facebook or blogging ? There really is not a competition - each has its own purpose and benefits.

Happy 4th Birthday to me

Yup, I couldn't believe it myself, but yes I am 4 years old today - this blog is existing since February 12, 2005. I know I am not such a great blogger - you know not updating the blog regularly about my whereabouts and all. Nevertheless, congratulations and more power- to me.

The purpose of this blog was basically to update my friends and family. It is borne out of laziness - to not email everytime and send pictures all the time- thus the blog was created. I came upon an article in a newspaper from the Philippines and there was this corner - best blog of the week. A few years ago, when I first came here to Germany, my brother told me to have an online journal and sent me the link to live journal. I ignored it and thought - what publish my thoughts online?? It's not until that particular evening reading the online paper did I realise to have my own blog. Oh yes, I thought I should have done it earlier - but hey better late than later :)

long time no blog

I really wanted to blog more, marking the start of my new job I thought I would even make a new blog for it. However, it turned out I didn't have any internet connection last Monday. I needed to install a new software says AOL. I waited and waited for this software (help desk said it would take 3-4 days) till The V. arrived from his bussiness trip and turned on the computer (after being off for four days!) - he said " but you're online!!!" Moral of the story- don't believe those people at help desks! Well the weekend came and still I didn't have time to blog. We are still busy with Project House. The V. hated me the whole weekend because I got this idea to paint the tiles in our bathroom- this caused a lot of muscle pain!!! Well the bathroom was more like a back to the 70's/80's kind of thing and needed some remodeling. It costs a lot to have it renovated so why don't we just paint it??? That was easier said than done. There is a special kind of paint you need to put on the tiles and it needs 3 applications of different kinds of chemicals.

We wore astronaut suits (special suits for painting/dirty work) because this paint was quite gooey and sticky and it was splattering all over. At first I didn't wear the special outfit. Then I got paint all over and my hair and face turned almost white with the splatterings and The V. had to pull all the hair strands with a towel to clean it. That was awful! It hurt a lot. It reminded me of the monkey who pulls the hairs of another monkey to get some lice. Yikes!

Anyway, can you see the difference? It all looks clean now, don't you think so? This picture is the same corner as above. That was how it used to be and now it is like this. This is the economical way of changing the bathroom tiles. So from the brown bathroom, we now have a cream, very light yellow bathroom. Well almost it's not yet over by the way. The color on the can says it's supposed to be champagne..huh?? what is the color of champagne?

Aside from that I wanted to post some pictures of the rooms and how it they all look now but but I cannot find the camera because I have been packing some boxes the last few days and I don't know where it is so we have to postpone that a little bit. Well I'll end this post for now and will let you know about my new life as a Montessori teacher correction - since I don't have a Montessori diploma yet I am just an Assistant Montessori Teacher. I am actually thinking of getting a new blog for this. It's quite exciting to start a new job and not boring at all with lots of ups and downs and sad and hilarious moments.

Revamping the blog

I've finally change to the new blogger template and revamped my blog a bit. It's quite a small change but nevertheless this is a big step for me. When I find time again, I will try to experiment more and change the whole template as well. Although The V. thinks this template is quite well for us. Actually the lighthouse matches us because we are always crossing the sea :) through our travels. Speaking of which check this out:



Yup it's vacation time once again. Although it is not quite a vacation this time but more of an obligation with pleasure. As I've mentioned in my last post, The V.'s Pa is turning 70 so off we go to Bulgaria this weekend. That will be a welcome change especially with regards to the weather. I've checked the weather forcast there and I see some warm sunshine coming my way compared to the rains we have at the moment.

This is probably what's expecting us. The picture is still not yet digitalized so not quite optimal. Well you might see only gray haired people here because the photographer took the corner with the oldies.
