Goodbye Baghira

Yesterday is one of the saddest day of our lives. We put Baghira to sleep because he was very sick. His kidneys were quite damaged. The Vet, Vlado and I did our best to save him but it was not enough. We didn't want to prolong his agony. He was a true friend and a great cat. We will surely miss him.

How terribly sad !! I know what it is to have to decide for the last sign of love to your cat. But you did right three years ago I had to put asleep our Max after 19 years of life together and for the same reason kidneys ! And the two others I had to burry during my life they suffered the same. That's the weakest point for a cat. How old was he ?? If you want you can also answer me per email.

That is so sad. I haven't experienced having to put down any of our pets but we lost Freya (our first German Shepherd) more than 3 years ago and I cried for a week so I know how it feels to lose one. They sure become part of the family ...

Thank you for the kind words. Yes it is indeed very sad. He is 16 years old and we've had him for 5 years. The rest of his 11 years were spent somewhere because we got him from the animal shelter. We think he belonged to some old lady/man who probably died or have to go a home because of old age.

Hi Toni & Vlado,

I've come from Gattina's blog to say how sorry I am about Baghira. You've very brave to let him go when there was no other way to help him. He seems to have had a wonderful life with you - take some time for yourselves while you grieve.

oh my gosh!!!!! huhuhu... i'm so sorry to hear that!!! i am very sad... u know i have a big heart for cats... i have just given one of my siamese kittens to my officemate... oh my gosh... your post reminds me of my akira (japanese spitz dog)... the vet asked for my consent to put my doog in sleep coz she's terminally illed... but i refused... i went to the clinic, touched my dog... and cried a lot... told her that she could rest... i saw her tail wagged but she was too weak... the following day, the vet called to inform me that my akira is dead... i knew she died in peace... huhuhu! it's really hard when our dear pets have to say goodbye...
